Military history of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic

Two ethnic Armenian soldiers have been killed in a new upsurge in fighting between Azerbaijani forces and separatists from the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh, the separatists said on April 26.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has echoed President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an in displaying solidarity with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, pledging to stand by Baku "until doomsday."

Azerbaijan and the Armenia-backed breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh yesterday bickered about how many of their soldiers had been killed in clashes that have stoked fears of a wider conflict breaking out in the South Caucasus.
