A recent discovery at the National Archaeological Reserve and ancient Roman colony Deultum near the village of Debelt in Sredets municipality is believed to be the earliest indication of Christianity in Bulgarian lands, according to BTA reports. Unearthed during summer excavations in 2023, a silver amulet has garnered attention for its significance.

Bulgarian border police officers have detained 21 illegal migrants near the border with Turkey.

They were detained near the village of Granichar in the municipality of Sredets, Darik radio informs.

There are both children and women among the migrants, who claimed to come from Iraq. The youngest migrant from the group is eight years old, while the eldest members is aged 42.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov unveiled the completely renovated archaeological reserve Deultum near the village of Debelt in the municipality of Sredets on Sunday.

The reserve shows the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region.

All artifacts which have been found on the territory of the archaeological reserve are exhibited in the newly-constructed museum.

Bulgarian border police detained 34 illegal immigrants in three operations across the country on Saturday.

On Saturday night a border police patrol attempted to stop two vehicles for a check near the village of Gabar in the municipality of Sozopol.

A Bulgarian citizen detained with a group of 15 migrants on Thursday has been indicted with charges of people smuggling, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry has said.

The development does not have any explicit relation to the smuggling of the 54 migrants one of whom died after border police shooting on Thursday evening.
