Metro services to Athens International Airport disrupted
Metro services to Athens International Airport were disrupted on Friday due to a mechanical issue.
Reports indicate that an out-of-service train at Doukissis Plakentias station in Halandri, north of the capital, emitted smoke because of the malfunction.
Currently, services on Line 3 are operating between Halandri and Dimotiko Theatro in Piraeus.
Public transport to clock out early on New Year’s Eve
Public transportation in Athens will clock out earlier than usual on New Year's Eve with most services ending by midnight, operators have said.
Trolley buses and regular buses will begin heading back to their depots after 10 p.m., meaning there will be no services after 11 p.m.

Service on the Athens transport system will slow down over the long Easter weekend, the OASA transit company said on Thursday, presenting the schedule for the capital's metro, tram, buses and trolley buses.
On Saturday in particular, buses and trolley buses will start pulling off the road after 10 p.m. so that drivers can attend church for the Resurrection service at midnight.
Toll collector held up at gunpoint in northern Athens
Police were looking on Tuesday for a man who held up a toll collector at the Doukissis Plakentias toll station, in northern Athens, on the Attiki Odos ring road.
The unidentified suspect rode up to the toll booth on a motorcycle at around 5.30 a.m. and threatened the collector with a gun, according to reports.

Athens metro service to airport to resume as before, reports say
The Transport Ministry has demanded the reversal of a decision last week by the Urban Rail Transport Company (STASY) that is forcing commuters on the metro traveling to and from Athens International Airport to change trains at Doukissis Plakentias station.
According to sources cited in the Greek media, the measure, which sparked the ire of commuters, will be scrapped in coming days.
