As Kosovo waits for official results from Sunday's local elections, some 17 municipalities already seem set for runoffs, according to preliminary data from local NGO Democracy in Action (DIA), which monitored the process. 

Former PM and AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj was detained on Wednesday by police in eastern France on a flight from Pristina on the basis of a Serbian arrest warrant that alleges he committed war crimes while he was a guerrilla commander with the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, during the war in Kosovo.

His family confirmed the arrest on Wednesday to Kosovo's public broadcaster RTK.

Kosovo's Parliamentary Commission on Economic Development on Tuesday postponed voting on sending the government's decision to issue a coal research licence to the company Kosovo Energy LLC Envidity for parliamentary approval after opposition MPs demanded more clarity about a scheme that some have described as a virtual monopoly.

Opposition parties in Kosovo have called on people to take to the streets again on February 17, when the country will celebrate the eighth anniversary of the declaration of independence.

Kosovo's Constitutional Court has suspended implementation of a Brussels-brokered agreement to establish an Association of Serbian majority municipalities, prompting Belgrade to accuse Kosovo of mocking the international comunity.
