Armistice Day

The US Embassy in Athens and its consular section, the US Consulate General in Thessaloniki and all US government offices in Greece will be closed on Friday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day, a US federal holiday, honors the country's military veterans.

AGERPRES special correspondent to Paris, France, Florentina Peia reports: Romania's President Klaus Iohannis attends a series of events in Paris dedicated to the Centennial of the WWI Armistice that ended WWI hostilities, on Saturday and Sunday.

Armistice Day was marked on Saturday in Serbia with a number of ceremonies, including the laying of wreaths at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.

The central state ceremony was led by Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic marked Armistice Day on Wednesday by placing a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala near Belgrade.

November 11, Armistice Day, is a non-working state holiday in Serbia.
