Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has once again cautioned North Macedonia that violating the Prespa Agreement, which resolved the longstanding name dispute between the two neighbors, will jeopardize the Balkan country's ambitions for EU membership. 

Mother in Imathia arrested after death of six-month-old baby

Police in northern Greece arrested a woman on Tuesday after the death of her six-month-old baby.

The 37-year-old mother, living in a village of Imathia, allegedly hit the infant. Her two other children, aged six and seven, who were present during the incident, ran out of the house and called for help. 

Two people dead from West Nile virus

Eight new cases of West Nile virus and two patient fatalities were reported in Greece over the last week, highlighting the dangers of mosquito bites.

This summer, a total of 11 cases have been reported to the National Public Health Organization, 10 of which were more serious due to central nervous system symptoms.

Doctor lightly injured by falling plaster in Veria hospital

A doctor sustained leg injuries when chunks of plaster fell from the ceiling of his office at the General Nephrology Clinic in the town of Veria, central Macedonia, on Wednesday, reports said.
According to local newspaper Laos, this was the third such incident in the hospital. Five years ago, a large chunk of plaster fell from the ceiling in the manager's office.

Police uncover illegal excavation for antiquities in northern Greece

Six people were arrested on Wednesday for conducting illegal excavations in search of antiquities under the ground floor of a listed building in the town of Veria, northern Greece.

The suspects - four Greeks, aged 68, 42, 38 and 32, and two foreign nationals, aged 33 and 31 - were collared during a raid by police at the building which is located in the town's historic quarter.
