South Korea's president Moon Jae-in has assured that the winter Olympics in PyeongChang in February next year will not be jeopardized despite tense relations with the DPRK. He met with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach at the UN General Assembly in New York.

US can sell advanced arms to Seoul, Tokyo

President Donald Trump said on Sept. 5 he would allow Japan and South Korea to buy more "highly sophisticated" U.S. military equipment, amid soaring tensions after Pyongyang's latest atomic test.

"I am allowing Japan & South Korea to buy a substantially increased amount of highly sophisticated military equipment from the United States," Trump said in a tweet. 

UN, IAEA Chiefs Condemn Nuclear Test Reported by North Korea

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Wednesday that the underground nuclear test announced by North Korea is "deeply troubling" .

The hydrogen bomb test violates numerous resolutions of the UN Security Council despite calls by the international community to cease such activities, Ban Ki-moon told reporters at the UN headquarters, according to un.org.
