‘1923’ celebrates 100th anniversary of Republic

Produced for the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, the musical "1923," which tells the story of the Republic with fantastic elements from the Bandırma Ferry, where the War of Independence started, to the opening of the Parliament, from the Great Offensive to the establishment of the Republic, was on stage at Zorlu PSM on Sept. 23.

Antalya Film Festival ends with award ceremony

The International Antalya Film Festival handed out the Golden Orange Awards for the 58th time in a ceremony held at Antalya Sports Hall.

Organized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality under the leadership of Mayor Muhittin Böcek, the film festival came to an end with the closing gala and the traditional award ceremony on Oct. 9.

Turkish authors mourn death of Umberto Eco

Turkish writers mourn Umberto Eco, Italy's world-known author and philosopher, who died Feb. 19 at he age of 84.

The writer of several groundbreaking books Eco had been suffering from cancer and passed away at 10.30 p.m. [2130 GMT] local time, Italian media reported.

Best-selling Turkish crime novelist Ahmet Ümit described his sorrow on social media on Feb. 20.
