The names of actors and actresses starring in Turkish TV shows are being given to newborns across the Middle East and Eastern Europe, where Turkish series continue to be hugely popular.  

Turkish actress Tuba Büyüküstün, who is the most popular actress in the Arab world and last year became the good will ambassador of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), went to Jordan to visit thousands of women and children who escaped from the civil war in bordering Syria and took shelter in the Zaatari refugee camp.

Meryem Uzerli, "Hürrem" in Turkey’s globally popular TV drama “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” (The Magnificent Century) returned to Germany last year after ending her relationship with the father of her then-unborn daughter, Lara.

Meryem Uzerli, better known as Hürrem Sultan in the popular Turkish TV series “The Magnificent Century” (Muhteşem Yüzyıl) has returned to Turkey, after signing a contract with O3, the Turkish production company of the biggest TV channel of the Arab world, MBC.
