The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced that the word "arena" had been removed from the names of all stadiums in the country on May 27, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Istanbul's Fenerbahçe, the only side to consign league champion Beşiktaş to defeat in 27 official games at its new home, will visit the Vodafone Arena by the Bosphorus on May 7 in a game that could help determine the Super League season.

With the regular time ending 2-1 to Beşiktaş on the night and 3-3 on aggregate, the match went to penalties as the clock ticked well past midnight.

French football club Olympic Lyon has warned its supporters about security over a Europa League round of 16 second leg game against Turkey's Beşiktaş in Istanbul on April 20, citing a terror attack near the stadium in December 2016, according to Radio Scoop. 

The club called on fans not to go to the game at Beşiktaş Vodafone Arena as organized groups. 

Cafes, a market selling fruits and vegetables, an art gallery and second-hand booksellers will be included within the "seagull-shaped" transfer center currently under construction in Istanbul's Kabataş on the European side. 

Beşiktaş beat Çaykur Rizespor, the relegation-threatened Black Sea side 1-0 in a tight game in Istanbul, defending its cushion with the remaining contenders on March 4. 

Turkish league champions Beşiktaş defeated Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva 2-1 late on Feb. 23 to advance to the last 16 in the Europa League, leaving it Turkey's only remaining competitor in continental action.

Fenerbahçe coach Dick Advocaat will take his time to consider whether to sign a contract to stay at the club for another year, Fenerbahçe Deputy Chairman Şekip Mosturoğlu has announced. 

Beşiktaş chairman Firket Orman has "apologized for any wrongdoings" committed by his club during the Feb. 5 Ziraat Turkey Cup game against Fenerbahçe, which was marked by brawls and on-pitch violence. 

"I apologize to everyone for our wrongdoings in the derby," Orman said on Feb. 7 at a ceremony marking a new jersey deal with Vodafone.
