A monk seal (monacus monacus) has been spotted in a creek in the Manavgat district of Turkey's southern province of Antalya, marking the endangered species' first ever river appearance, daily Hürriyet reported on April 11.

Turkish Education Minister Nabi Avc? has demanded an investigation into the death of a teacher who died of a heart attack in western Yalova province soon after the governor reprimanded him for his physical appearance at the school, while teachers did not attend their first classes in memory of their colleague.
