Centre-left election results: Gennimata (42.50%) and Androulakis (25.14%) in 2nd round
With 175,000 votes counted (83.2 percent) in the elections for the president of the centre-left political formation, Fofi Gennimata, leader of the socialist party of PASOK has secured a spot in the second round after receiving 42.50 of the votes and will face off for the leadership of the new centre-left formation with Nikos Anfroulakis. A total of 210,264 citizens voted.
18.500 Runners from 101 Countries to Run Authentic Greek Marathon
Over 18,500 runners from 101 different countries will participate at the 35th annual Authentic Marathon, which will take place in Athens on the 12th of November.
Most of the athletes that will compete on the 42.195m route come from the UK (1,054), Italy (1,000), the USA (834), France (815) and Germany (741).

Record arrivals in Athens in 1st 3-month period
The percentage of arrivals in Athens rose by 14% in the first 3-month period, according to data presented in a joint press conference by the city’s Mayor George Kaminis and the vice-President of Aegean Airlines, Eftychios Vasilakis. Athens achieved an all-time record number of arrivals in 2016 with 4,6 million travellers compared to 4.2 million in 2015.

Survey: How do the refugees see Athens and how do the Athenians see the refugees?
According to three surveys that were presented by the Mayor of Athens George Kaminis, 54% of the citizens of Athens consider the integration of the refugees in the Greek society as “difficult”, while 70% think that the refugees’ children should enroll to Greek schools.

30th Athens Run a huge success (photos)
The 30th “Athens Run” was a a huge success with thousands of participants lining up at the start, Sunday morning. The runners of all ages and walks of life offered food to the Athens Municipality Reception Centre for Solidarity. The race started at 9.30am, with Athens Mayor George Kaminis firing the starting shot. The finish line was at the Panathinakos Marble Stadium.

Athens mayor rallies European cities to tackle refugee crisis
European cities are joining forces to tackle challenges arising from the continent's refugee crisis, in an initiative launched this week in Athens, through which hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants have passed since the start of 2015.
5th annual Athens semi-marathon starts Sunday, March 20
Over 18,000 runners will take part in this year’s 5th annual Athens semi-marathon to take place on Sunday, March 20. Professionals, amateurs, locals and foreigners are expected to all take to the streets of Athens to test their endurance in long distance running. The race will kick off at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ on Amalias Avenue at 9 am on the morning Sunday, March 20.
