Amidst the ongoing war, Ukraine has made a bold diplomatic move by appointing its former commander-in-chief, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, as the new ambassador to the United Kingdom. The decision comes a month after Zaluzhnyi was removed from his role as the nation's top military commander, reported Al Jazeera.

Ukraine may withdraw from NATO membership to avoid war, Ukrainian Ambassador to Britain Vadym Prystaiko told the BBC, Reuters reported, noting that this would be a big concession to Moscow in response to the accumulation of Russian troops on Russia's border with Ukraine.

Today, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Britain, Vadym Prystaiko, clarified his earlier statements on the possible withdrawal of Kiev from NATO membership, stating that Ukraine will not reconsider its efforts to join the military alliance.
Asked if Ukraine could reconsider its ambitions to join NATO, Ambassador Prystaiko told the BBC:

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met on Feb. 2 with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki in Saudi Arabia's capital, which is set to host a high-level meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said he had invited his Russian, Ukrainian and French counterparts to talks in Berlin on May 11 intended to smooth differences between Moscow and Kyiv, after relations have been tense since Russia's 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Kyiv and its support for separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine.
