Croatian leaders' contrasting attitudes towards Tuesday's annual commemoration of the murder of a Croatian family during the independence war drew equally contrasting responses.
Zagreb's new Left-Green mayor, Tomislav Tomasevic attended the commemoration of the murder of the Zec family in 1991 in person.
Wartime Killing of Serb Family Commemorated in Croatia
The Anti-Fascist League of Croatia held a memorial event on Monday evening for the three murdered members of the Zec family on Sljeme Hill above Zagreb, where they were killed by Croatian reservist policemen during the war in December 1991 - a crime that remains unpunished.
On the 29th anniversary of their deaths, activists laid flowers and lit candles near the site of the killings.
Meat Workers Rally Against Embattled Zagreb Mayor
Former workers at the Sljeme meat company rallied on Monday in front of the state attorney's office in Zagreb to publicise what they said were Bandic's crimes.
