Warsaw summit

The summit will be held on Friday, September 2 in the Palace of Serbia, and it will be chaired by Aleksandar Vui, it was stated in the press release of the Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic.

US President Joe Biden will join a meeting by video link of presidents of countries on NATO's eastern flank being held on Monday in the Romanian capital, according to the offices of the Romanian and Polish presidents, news wires reported. The presidents gathering represent the so-called Bucharest Nine, a group of the easternmost members of the alliance.

Just three days after resuming the leadership of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will embark on a two-day trip to Brussels on May 24 and 25. While there he will hold key meetings at the NATO summit and with the two top leaders of the European Union. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will attend a NATO leaders' summit this week in Brussels, the president's office confirmed on May 23.        

It said in a statement that Erdoğan would lead Turkey's delegation and join the opening ceremony for the new NATO headquarters on May 25.        

Turkey would never take steps to undermine NATO's collective defense and unity as spelled out in Article 5, the alliance's chief has said, recalling President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's commitment to NATO membership amid the revival of a discussion on Turkish participation in the Russian-led Shanghai Cooperation Organization, known as the Shanghai Five. 

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is hoping that Friday's so-called EUMed summit in Athens, which is due to see the leaders of Greece, France, Italy, Portugal, Malta and Cyprus discuss economic policy, migration and security, will lead to a strengthening of ties between the Southersn European countries ahead of the European Union leaders' summit Bratislava, Slovakia, next Friday.

The Turkish General Staff has announced that a NATO Boeing E-3A Sentry Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS) aircraft has begun surveillance in Turkish airspace as part of assurance measures for Turkey, while noting that NATO's mission would be conducted "periodically" in the coming months.
