The Philippines' anti-graft body filed criminal charges against former President Benigno Aquino on Nov. 7 for mishandling a botched anti-militant raid that resulted in the death of 44 police commandos in 2015.

President Rodrigo Duterte received a draft law by the Moro rebel group on July 17, in an important step to broker peace in the southeast Asian country.        

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu arrived in the Philippines on Nov. 17 and pledged Turkey’s full support for the Mindanao peace process, local media reported.

Davutoğlu promised to back the process that aims to end a decades-old armed conflict in the Muslim-majority south, Philippines broadcaster PTV News said.

A senior Turkish diplomat has been appointed as chair of a key intergovernmental body aimed at resolving a centuries-old conflict in the Philippines, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has announced.
