Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop has informed that the parliament has received summary proceedings against 33 lawmakers, including those from the ranks of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

"A total of 33 summary proceedings were sent to the parliament last night. They include the members of the HDP as well," he told the reporters on Feb. 24.

Former main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Enis Berberoğlu has returned to the Turkish Parliament following last month's Constitutional Court's verdict, which said his rights were violated when convicted and stripped of his immunity.

The Istanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court sent a summary of proceedings to the Justice Ministry on Feb. 9 that paves the way for a retrial of former Republican People's Party (CHP) MP Enis Berberoğlu.

A local court in Istanbul has said it will retry former opposition lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu after it was advised by the chief prosecutor to implement a recent verdict of the Constitutional Court which said the former MP's rights were violated when he was convicted and stripped of his immunity by the court.

Turkey's top court has urged that not abiding by its verdicts is a serious violation of the constitution while repeating its call for the retrial of former main opposition lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu in line with their two rulings, which have not been implemented yet.

The rulings of the Constitutional Court are binding, and its decisions should be implemented, Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül said on Jan. 22, elaborating the top court's recent verdict on former main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu.

Turkey's Constitutional Court once again ruled on Jan. 21 that the rights of former main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu were breached, noting that the verdict given earlier has not been implemented yet.

CHP Group Deputy Chair Engin Altay has called on high and local courts to meet the demand of the Constitutional Court.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on June 16 pledged to continue his party's efforts on maintaining justice in Turkey.
"Don't think this walk is an end, this is our first step," he said, speaking at the CHP's parliament meeting.

A Turkish court on June 8 ruled in favor of releasing former opposition lawmaker Leyla Güven from prison. 

Güven, who was stripped of her legislative immunity and arrested last week, had been sentenced to six years and three months for being a member of an "armed terror organization."
