Author Elizabeth Gilbert, whose multi-million-selling "Eat, Pray, Love" was made into a Hollywood smash starring Julia Roberts, said Monday she is shelving her new novel after an outcry because it was set in Russia.

Six indicted after Athens riots, another 7 to stand trial next week
The trial of seven people arrested during riots on Saturday night in Athens has been deferred to November 29.
The suspects face charges of attempted grievous bodily harm, disturbing the peace and resisting authorities.
The riots took place after events commemorating the 45th anniversary of a student uprising against Greece's military dictatorship in 1973.

Oregon woman tries to commit suicide – Fails spectacularly
A woman in Oregon seemed to have had set her mind on committing suicide, but luck saved her. According to eye witnesses, the woman was driving erratically, resulting in her crashing her car against the barriers on a bridge. The woman left the car after the crash, when witnesses realized that she had set herself on fire.
Hunter faces Kalamata prosecutor after shooting friend
A 32-year-old man faced a prosecutor in Kalamata, in the Peloponnese, on Wednesday on charges of causing grievous bodily harm after he shot a friend, 43, while the pair had been hunting in the region of Kalohori.
The pair had been hunting wild boar when the younger man accidentally injured his friend with two shots, to the stomach and collarbone.
Court to hear Kasidiriaris-Kanelli case
An Athens court was scheduled to hear the case against Golden Dawn's Ilias Kasidiaris in connection to charges of attempted grievous bodily harm to Greek Community Party (KKE) MP Liana Kanelli, during a brawl on a live morning show on Antenna television in June 2012.

Soccer fan hospitalized after crowd trouble at Greek third division game dies
A soccer fan who was hospitalized after crowd trouble in Crete earlier this month died early on Monday.
Costas Katsoulis, 47, was taken to the hospital in Iraklio after fighting broke out in the stands at a third division game between local side Irodotos and Ethnikos of Piraeus.
Two soccer fans remanded over violent attack on Crete
Two Cretan soccer fans were remanded in custody on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a rival supporter who is in a coma after suffering serious head injuries.
The two suspects, aged 24 and 27, are accused of attacking their victim, an Ethnikos Piraeus fan, when his team was playing Irodotos on Crete.
A third man, aged 22, was released after posting 2,000 euros in bail.
