Anti-fur activists protest fashion week
Animal activists have fashion brands squarely in their sights this Milan Fashion Week, hoping to pressure Italian brands Max Mara and Fendi to give up fur in future collections.
An activist from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) stormed the Fendi runway on Wednesday brandishing a sign saying, "Animals are NOT clothing."

Turkish dog breed struggles to grow into winter coat
Seasonal shift has prevented Kangal dogs, a traditional working breed from the central Anatolian province Sivas, from growing into their winter coats.
Due to climate change and relatively warm weather, Kangal dogs are still in their summer coats. Although it is the middle of January, snowfall has not yet been seen at the desired level throughout in Sivas.
Elle says will drop fur from magazines worldwide
Elle magazine announced on Dec. 2 it will stop using fur in all its editorial and advertising content worldwide, becoming the first major publication to do so.

Humans infect animals at mink farms; mass culls avoided
Coronavirus cases have been spreading fast among workers at mink farms in the province of Western Macedonia, the hub of Greece's fur industry. Authorities believe it is the humans infecting the mink and not vice versa. So far, both authorities and owners agree that there should be no mass slaughter of animals as happened in Denmark.

California's governor Gavin Newsom has signed a ban on the manufacture of genuine leather and fur goods that are sold and distributed in the state, the AP reports.
The new law will enter into force on January 1, 2023.

Procession against Fur Farming in Sofia
Yesterday, about 200 people crossed the streets of Sofia between the Council of Ministers and the National Palace of Culture in the rhythm of drums, with posters and chants in support of banning valuable fur farms. The event also found strong support among artistic and fashion media.

A Protest For Banning Fur Farms Will be Held In Front of the Council of Ministers
A protest for banning fur farms under the motto "Another Year of Death" will be held in front of the Council of Ministers before the start of the regular cabinet meeting.
A year ago, a National Citizens' Initiative submitted a bill to the National Assembly asking for a ban on the raising and killing of animals for their skins only.
