Parties critical of govt as EU approves state funding of STA

Ljubljana – Several parties welcomed on Thursday the European Commission’s announcement that the state funding of the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) does not constitute state aid because the STA is performing a public service. Most opposition parties said the government had inquired about this to delay the payment. The government has not responded.

Romania submits to European Commission all extended components of its recovery, resilience plan

The Ministry of European Investments and Projects (MIPE) has submitted to the European Commission all the extended components of Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and minister Cristian Ghinea will discuss them in Brussels, April 12-16 April.

EU Blocks LSE, Deutsche Boerse Merger

The European Union has blocked the large-scale merger of the London Stock Exchange with German Deutsche Boerse on the grounds of apprehensions about competition and Brexit.

"After the parties failed to propose the necessary measures for dealing with our apprehensions about competition, the EC decided to ban the merger," stated European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager.
