A protege of Yehudi Menuhin, Nigel Kennedy is hailed as one of the top violinists of his generation and the best-selling violinist in the history of music. He has been invited to perform at Athens's Herod Atticus Theater by the Greek Festival, with a performance titled "Bach Meets Kennedy Meets Gershwin", a dialogue between the classical and jazz composers.

The Athens State Orchestra lends its sound to a screening of Charlie Chaplin's kooky "Gold Rush," where the Little Tramp heads north to try his luck among the throngs of prospectors at Klondike. The music for the silent film of 1925 was composed by Chaplin and Max Terr in 1942. Tickets for the family-friendly, 8.30 p.m. show at the Athens Concert Hall cost 10-35 euros.

Renowned British actor Roger Moore who held longest James Bond role dies at 89
British actor Roger Moore, who won international fame playing secret agent James Bond, died on May 23 aged 89, his family said on the actor's official Twitter account.
They said he had died in Switzerland of cancer. His 12 years as James Bond, the British agent with a voracious appetite for danger and sex, made Moore a millionaire as well as a heartthrob the world over.

Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.
He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.
Sir Roger’s family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after “a short but brave battle with cancer”.

With improvised avant-garde noise, post-rock and ambient elements, the four musicians will attempt to capture the horror of the 1960 classic.

Ex-Hong Kong leader gets 20 months in jail for misconduct
A former leader of Hong Kong was sentenced on Feb. 22 to 20 months in prison for misconduct after failing to disclose plans to rent a luxury apartment for his retirement from a businessman applying for a broadcasting license.
It was a stunning downfall for Donald Tsang, 72, who served as Hong Kong's leader, or chief executive, from 2005 to 2012.
Seychelles' First President Dies Aged 77
Sir James Mancham, the first President of the Seychelles, passed away at his residence on Sunday morning, a family member has said.
"Doctors had confirmed the death" of the former head of state, Seychelles News Agency quotes Mancham's nephew Dereck Pothin as saying.
