Halima Aden, a Muslim model who became a trailblazer for modest fashion by wearing her hijab on the catwalk and in photo shoots, has visited Istanbul as she has been named a global brand ambassador of a Turkish firm.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Jan. 10 ruled in favor of Switzerland over a case in which Turkish-origin parents said their right to "freedom of thought, conscience and religion" was breached when they were fined by Swiss authorities for refusing to send their daughters to co-ed swimming lessons, which the parents claimed it was against their religious convictions. 

The mayor of Hungary's Asotthalom has announced that the village has adopted measures to defend its community and traditions.

These include banning "construction of mosques and the activity of muezzins, as well as the use of veils and headscarves like burqas, chadors and burkinis worn by Muslim women," AP reported on Friday.
