Elliniko Mayor Kortzidis charged over child’s fairground death
An Athens prosecutor on Thursday brought criminal charges against the mayor of Elliniko, Christos Kortzidis (photo), in connection with the death of a 13-year-old boy, and the serious injury of his 9-year-old sister, at a fairground in the southern Athens suburb at the end of last month.
Mayor to be probed over fairground death
The mayor of Argyroupoli-Elliniko, where a 13-year-old boy lost his life at a fairground, has been asked to explain the municipalitys actions as part of an administrative investigation into the incident that is separate from the judicial probe that has led to four people being charged with felonies.

Four accused over boy's fairground death freed pending trial
Four suspects charged in connection with the death of a 13-year-old boy last Sunday at a fairground in Elliniko, south of Athens, were given conditional release pending trial after testifying before an investigating magistrate on Friday.
Elliniko mayor called to testify over boy's fairground death
The general secretary of the Administrative Reform Ministry, Manolis Angelakis, on Friday afternoon sent an order to Elliniko Mayor Christos Kortzidis to testify to an investigating magistrate within the next 10 days in connection with the death at an unlicensed fairground in Elliniko of a 13-year-old boy last Sunday.
Minister calls for inspections on all child play areas
Interior Minister Yiannis Michelakis on Thursday ordered checks on all fairgrounds, playgrounds and playgroups following the death last Sunday of a 13-year-old boy, and the serious injury of his nine-year-old sister, at an unlicensed fairground in Elliniko, south of Athens.
