Compensationof $2.78 million has been awarded by a court to a 28-year-old nanny who worked as an intern for a 35-year-old businessman at US the employer recorded his employee in private moments using a hidden camera that he had installed in a smoke detector.

A 49-year-old hair salon owner in the northern Athenian suburb of Vrilissia was arrested on Saturday for the unlawful processing of personal data and for violating the illegal substances legislation.

According to the police, the investigation took place after a filed complaint, locating hidden cameras in the hair salon's toilets. 

“The tool can be used to collect GPS coordinates of the victim, monitor key strokes, activate hidden cameras & browse files on the remote mobile devices to steal data”

Istanbul police have launched an operation against hidden camera sellers in the Şişli and Fatih districts of the city. 

Anti-smuggling police determined several businesses selling the cameras, which were brought to Turkey illegally, and conducted operations, Doğan News Agency reported on June 6. 

A 68-year-old man who worked as a private tutor from his home faced an Athens prosecutor on Thursday on child pornography charges.

Nanny Lidia Quilligana was arrested in Danbury, Connecticut, last month after a hidden camera captured moments of violence as she choked and beat a 3-year-old girl in her care before proceeding to burn the toddler's legs, arms and hands. The toddler screamed out in pain and torture.

Two hidden cameras were located in none other than the Athens Journalists’ Union (ESIEA) on Tuesday by a member of the organisation’s board members, and specifically in the first-floor café.
Police confirmed the existence of the two cameras, able to record image and sound, after being called to ESIEA’s building in central Athens.
