Bulgaria's President Presents Icon of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Pope Francis

Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev and a delegation accompanying him were granted an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican. During the meeting, President Radev presented Pope Francis with an original icon of Saints Cyril and Methodius, crafted by artists from the Sofia Icon Painting School in the latter half of the 19th century.

Security Measures Implemented for May 24 Celebrations in Sofia

In preparation for May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, as well as the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and Slavic Literature, the National Security Service is implementing security measures in Sofia's city center. The festivities will commence with a formal procession at 10:30 a.m., commencing from the Archaeological Museum.

Happy national holiday! On May 24 we celebrate the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and the Slavonic Scripture. On this day, Bulgaria celebrates the national holiday of education, culture and the creation of the Glagolics by Cyril and Methodius.

Pope Francis Sends Message of Health and Prosperity to Bulgarian People

President Rumen Radev was received by Pope Francis, as traditionally each year the head of the Roman Catholic Church gives audience to Bulgarian representatives due to the Day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture, reported BNR.

Radev gifted to the Pope with an icon of the Holy Brothers St. St. Cyril and Methoius who are also patrons of Europe for the Catholic Church.

Today We Mark Saints Cyril and Methodius Day

On May 11th, is the church feast day of Holy brothers, Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius.

The two brothers are known also as the Apostles of the Slavs. In 862-863 Constantine Cyril the Philosopher created the oldest Old-Bulgarian alphabet "The Glagolitsa alphabet" which is supposed to had given a start the holy deals of the Apostles.
