Rescue operation underway for hiker in distress on Mount Olympus

A rescue operation is underway by members of the Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT) to assist a hiker in danger on Mount Olympus.

The rescue team received an emergency radio call on Sunday regarding the hiker near the Kastana area. Volunteers stationed on the mountain are on their way to the scene. The fire department in Litochoro has also been notified and is involved in the operation.

Search underway for missing German hiker on Crete

A search and rescue operation is continuing on Crete for a 60-year-old German man who was reported missing on a hike on Friday.

The man had set out on the hike with two women on Friday along the Sougia trial towards the Trypti Gorge, in the south of the island, according to state broadcaster ERT.

Along the way, the other hikers lost track of the man and later raised the alarm.

Worker Still in Critical Condition After Roof Collapse at New Bulgarian University

The condition of the worker injured in the collapse of a roof at the New Bulgarian University (NBU) remains serious, BNT reported. The roof section, along with photovoltaic panels, collapsed on him, leaving him with multiple internal injuries. According to "Pirogov" Hospital, where he is being treated, the worker faces a series of operations.

Corfu: Distress signal from a private boat for water ingress off Antipaxos

A distress signal was sent out on Friday afternoon from a vessel located south of Paxos. According to ERT, the signal was transmitted via VHF radio, prompting an immediate response from the coast guard.

The private vessel is experiencing controlled water ingress south of Paxos, but the occupants are not in danger.

Forty-two migrants rescued off Crete Island, ongoing search for 3 more

Some 42 migrants were rescued 27 miles southwest of Crete island in the early hours of Thursday, while there is an ongoing search and rescue operation for three more.

At some point on Wednesday night, the migrants' boat sent a distress call to the Italian authorities, who then informed Greece.
