US drone crashes in southern Turkey

A United States drone crashed in the southern province of Adana on Aug. 17. 

The cause of the crash in the province's Ceyhan district is so far unknown, and the authorities have launched an investigation.

The first statement on the crash came from Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtaş, who said the drone came down in Ceyhan's Çokçapınar area.

New container city to be built for Syrian refugees in Turkey's Adana

A new container city will be installed in the southern province of Adana for refugees who have fled from war-torn Syria, where civil has been continuing since 2011, Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtaş announced on Feb. 8, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The container city, which will be located in Adana's Sarıçam district, will host at least 25,000 refugees in 5,000 containers.

Fire in Turkey kills 12 school girls (photos-video)

Twelve people, most of them schoolgirls, were killed on Tuesday when fire ravaged a dormitory for pupils in the southern Turkish region of Adana, local officials said.
The fire, which officials said was likely caused by an electrical fault, raced through the building’s wooden interior as panicked victims tried to jump from windows to safety.

12 killed, 22 wounded in dormitory fire in Turkey's Adana

A total of 12 people were killed and 22 were wounded late on Nov. 29 when a fire broke out at a private girls' dormitory in the Aladağ district of the southern province of Adana, the governor's office has announced.

Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtaş announced that 12 bodies, including one educator, were retrieved dead in the fire, while the 22 wounded were taken to hospital.
