Army Aviation Command

The Turkish public still does not have an answer to the question on whether or not the tip off provided by pilot Major O.K. in the early afternoon of July 15, 2016, by personally visiting the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) headquarters, was properly assessed. 

According to the Army Aviation Command prosecutor's indictment, the structuring of the movement of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen within the Turkish military was done through "cells, each led by an 'abi' [older brother]." Target students were selected while they were in junior high.

When the June 15 coup attempt failed, the next day on July 16, 2016 putschist officers at Ankara's Güvercinlik Base at the Army Aviation Command were apprehended and handed over to the judicial authorities. One of the officers active in this operation was Colonel İdris Feyzi Okan, army aviation regiment commander. 

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) launched its bi-annual winter military exercise in the eastern Anatolian border province of Kars between Feb. 14 and 16, the army has said.
