On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, the 40th International Istanbul Book Fair will be organized from Oct. 28 to Nov. 5 under the theme of "Long Live the Republic," with the participation of over 1,000 publishing houses and non-governmental organizations.

The Turkish publisher Turhan Günay of Cumhuriyet Books and the Turkish publishing house Evrensel have been named co-winners of the Geneva-based International Publishers Association's (IPA) 2017 Prix Voltaire prize on Aug. 3.

Turkish police raided Belge Publishing House in Istanbul on May 7, seizing 2,000 books, daily Cumhuriyet has reported.

Belge was raided due to alleged links to the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) in the Fatih district's Cağaloğlu neighborhood, according to Cumhuriyet.
