Cited by CNBC, the report indicates a staggering 24% decline in iPhone sales within this period.
Google fined $162 mn by Indian watchdog over market dominance
Google has been fined more than $160 million by India's anti-trust watchdog after a probe found the tech behemoth was abusing its commanding position in the local smartphone market.
The company's Android mobile operating system is by far the dominant player in India and is run on 95 percent of all the country's smartphones.
Samsung and Apple losing market share
The global smartphone market grew 9.1 percent in the first quarter of this year, according to Gartner technology research. Apple and Samsung were the top smartphone makers but growth was driven by a trio of Chinese firms.
A total of 380 million smartphones were shipped worldwide between January and March, compared with 348.2 million during the same period in 2016.
