15,000 People Were Evacuated in Hanover Because of a World War II Aerial Bomb
Nearly 15,000 people were evacuated Monday night in the German city of Hanover due to a World War II aerial bomb disposal operation, BTA reported.
The 500-pound projectile was discovered on a construction site.
According to estimates, at the end of World War II, over 2 million bombs of different caliber were thrown over Hitler's Germany. 10-20% of them never exploded.
World War II Artillery Shell Found near Bus Station in Sofia
An artillery shell from World War II was discovered by workers clearing construction waste in a parking lot near the bus station in Sofia's "Iztok" quarter. The area has been secured by police.
The projectile was later transported by a specialized vehicle and is about to be destroyed. Sappers said the projectile was 28 cm long and 7 cm in diameter, BNR reported.
Sappers of Belene Help in the Battle with Snowdrifts
Ground troop soldiers help the population in the severe winter environment, the Ministry of Defense said. Specialist officers of the 55th Engineer Regiment - Belene under the command of Captain Yordan Yordanov, with chain and specialized equipment from the 55th Engineers Regiment, went to the villages of Lozitsa, Lyubenovo and Vabel.
250-kilogram Bomb was Safely Destroyed in Berlin
Nearly 14 hours after it was found, sappers from the Berlin police disposed a 250-kilogram WWII bomb, according to the national daily Die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, FOCUS News Agency reported.

Policemen Fired at a Car in Brussels Because of Bomb Hoax
Police officers fired at a car in the Mollenbeck district of Brussels and called for sappers after the driver said explosives were in the car, Belgium's federal prosecutor's office were quoted by Reuters.
Suitcase Left on the Street was Detonated in Sofia
People in downtown Sofia were unpleasantly surprised by the blast this morning. Luckily the explosion was done in controlled environment by sappers. The reason for all this was an abandoned suitcase that could not be confirmed to be safe.
