2010–11 Süper Lig

The Black Sea football club, Trabzonspor, has applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to overturn the outcome of the 2010-11 Turkish Süper Lig, in which they finished runners-up, and Istanbul's Fenerbahçe claimed the championship title, the club's website announced on Feb. 16.

Turkish top-tier Spor Toto Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe drew 3-3 in Monday's thrilling derby at Beşiktaş' home, Vodafone Park in Istanbul.

Galatasaray handed Kasımpaşa its first loss of the season on Sept. 14 with a 4-1 a victory at home as the two teams switched positions at the top of the Turkish Spor Toto Süper Lig.

Istanbul-based football heavyweights Beşiktaş lost to Antalyaspor 2-3 in Turkish Spor Toto Süper Lig on Aug. 26.

Galatasaray won 2-1 at home against Trabzonspor in a Spor Toto Super League match late on April 1 to extend its stay atop the standings. 

A 10-man Başakşehir beat defending champion Beşiktaş on the night of March 18, a day after leader Galatasaray was held to a goalless draw at Fenerbahçe, cutting the gap with the Spor Toto Super League leader to one point.

Spor Toto Super League club Gençlerbirliği coach Ümit Özat has once again found himself in hot water for his remarks, saying he would never speak badly of a former club “even if it were a Jewish team.”

The Turkish Super League's defending champion Beşiktaş defeated Konyaspor 2-0 in the closing game of the week at home late on Sept. 18, equalizing matters with Galatasaray on top of the standing. 

Turkish Spor Toto Super League leader Galatasaray hosts minnow city rival Kasımpaşa on Sept. 16, aiming to continue its perfect home record so far this season.

The Istanbul club, which made more than 10 additions to its squad over the summer, has made a fast start to the season, winning its first three games in style before being held to a 1-1 draw at Antalyaspor last week.

Beşiktaş hopes to put an end to Porto's record of never having lost to the Turkish opposition in eight previous matches when it visits the Portuguese side's Dragao Stadium in a UEFA Champions League Group G opener on Sept. 13.
