EU sanctions 12 Syrian ministers for rights abuses
The European Union says it is placing sanctions on 12 ministers of the Syrian government because of their responsibility "for serious human rights violations."
The EU said Monday they will be banned from traveling to the 28-nation bloc and will see any assets held there frozen.

EU extends Syria economic sanctions until June 2015
The European Union said Thursday it was renewing economic sanctions against Syria, including an oil embargo and asset freezes against allies of President Bashar al-Assad, for another year.
