Nigerian singer, guitarist and composer Adedeji Adetayo and his Afrosessioners band return to the stage of Faust in downtown Athens for a high-energy gig that blends traditional West African music with jazz, funk, afrobeat and soul, paying tribute to pioneers Fela Kuti and Manu Dibango. Doors open at 9.30 p.m. and admission costs 5 euros.

Cameroonian Afro-jazz and funk favorite Manu Dibango will be making a stop in Athens on Friday, February 1, as part of his 60th birthday tour. He has made an impressive nine appearances in the Greek capital, always to a sold-out house, so tickets are expected to sell out fast.

Athens-born Congolese singer and musician Jerome Kaluta performs a gig at Stavros tou Notou on Wednesday, April 11, that covers a range of uplifting music, from Papa Wemba, Manu Dibango and James Brown to New York hip-hop, Mardi Grass dance tunes and Cuban music. You could be forgiven for thinking that a typical night out in Athens involves, more or less, a dive into the delectable local cuisine, copious wine consumption, and impromptu merriment.
