Three minors arrested for bullying, robbery on Zakynthos
Three minors, aged 13 and 14, were arrested on the island of Zakynthos, western Greece, for bullying and stealing from a 14-year-old classmate over several months.
The suspects, including two brothers, repeatedly assaulted the boy and stole 300 euros in total. The abuse was exposed when they attacked him in public on Solomos Square, slapping and insulting him.

Amid the recent spike in juvenile violence and school bullying, the government is seeking to combat the phenomenon with an immediate plan of action that involves among others the tightening of penalties, such as the reintroduction of the five-day suspension and easier expulsion from school.

Building defenses in schools
The increase in violence and bullying at Greek schools is not and should not be treated as a public order issue.
Educators should have the tools to mobilize the school community and social services when they see a student showing problematic behavior, before the problem reaches the police.
Schools themselves need to be strengthened to control the bullying epidemic.
