The Bulgaria Cup 2024, the most prestigious event of the year for the Bulgarian Break Federation (BBF), is set to take place on November 30, 2024, at the National Palace of Culture, Hall 2, in Sofia.

In a pivotal moment for Bulgarian football, the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) convened an extraordinary congress at the Marinela Hotel in Sofia to elect a new president after the resignation of Borislav Mihaylov, who held the position for 18 years. The congress, which commenced at 10:30 a.m., saw the emergence of seven candidates vying for Mihaylov's former position.

"We have worked hard with our fan community to have a pro-Western approach and sporting behavior with opponents, including respect and warm hospitality. We are an example in the Balkan region, with no excesses, nationalist or racist chants," said Eroll Salihu, secretary-general of the Kosovo Football Federation.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Tuesday ordered the Ministry of Sport to cut all ties with the Bulgarian Football Union, including state funding, until the president of the national football association, Borislav Mihaylov, resigns.

The Bulgarian Football Union will initiate a meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and the bosses of professional football clubs because of the pressure on the referees and the tensions surrounding the games in the First League lately, said Borislav Mihaylov.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with UEFA President  Aleksander Ceferin, reported BGNES. 

The Minister of Youth and Sports Krasen Kralev participated in the meeting. The main focus of the conversation was the deepening of the good communication with UEFA and FIFA in the interest of the development of Bulgarian football.

The friendly match of the national team against Saudi Arabia, which BFU Vice President Yordan Lechkov first reported a week ago, was confirmed yesterday.

A total of 24 football clubs have been invited to participate in the new format of Bulgaria's top football division, the A Group, which is expected to be launched with the start of the new season in the autumn.

Bulgaria will have a record number of representatives in the committees of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

This became clear after the first meeting of the newly elected executive committee of UEFA in Prague, daily Dnevnik reports.

Football club Ludogorets Razgrad claimed on Friday its fourth successive championship title, becoming the second Bulgarian team to do so after CSKA Sofia.

The team from Razgrad defended its title after defeating Lokomotiv Sofia 4-1 at Ludogorets Arena and establishing 10-point lead three rounds before the end of the season.
