Factor in swelling doubts over the independence of the public broadcaster and the influence of oligarchic owners with stakes in private media outlets, and Slovakia's fall down the ranking becomes less shocking.

Ljubljana, 28 March – A EuroNight train taking passengers from Slovakia’s Bratislava via Vienna to Croatia’s coastal city of Split later this year will cross Slovenia, with stops in the Slovenian towns of Maribor, Celje, Sevnica and Dobova.

In the last 24 hours, two new deaths have been recorded in Slovakia, with a total of twenty deaths.
Three new patients were registered, 1.384 were infected in total, according to the National Center for Medical Data, TASR reports.
The number tested is 1.767.

Male politicians from conservative and far-right parties rallied against it, calling the convention an imposition of "gender ideology" that blurred boundaries between the sexes and undermined traditional family values.

The commemorations bring mixed emotions. For some, they are a celebration of freedom and democracy. Others feel nostalgia for more certain times. And as the nation looks back, parties are looking forward to a general election early next year.

Celebrating freedom

At least 13 people have died in a major bus crash in Slovakia, AFP reported.
According to initial reports, the bus collided with a truck in the area of Nitra, about 100 km east of the Slovak capital Bratislava, the Washington Post reports.

At least 20 others were injured.

Large numbers of Hungarians live beyond the country's borders in neighbouring states, a result of the political carve-up of empires after World War I. 

But national minorities are less common inside Hungary; the Slovak community is a relatively new phenomenon. Its emergence has little to do with politics, but everything to do with economics.

Weekend protesters

Slovaks have a reputation for political apathy, mostly due to traditionally low voter turnout, but they have been anything but apathetic as they turned out in large numbers for a series of protests.

Supporters of the Bulgarian "Levski" participated in a serious fight in the center of the Slovak capital Bratislava against fans of Krakowia and Ajax Amsterdam.

The "Blue" supporters sat in the center of the city, after which the Vandalism took place in Bratislava. The video on a popular Instagram profile shows how to start strolling from the cafes, as well as crashing windows.
