Parliament approves controversial omnibus education ministry bill
Parliament has approved an initial reading of an omnibus education ministry bill that has caused a political maelstrom as opposition parties charge that it is full of political favours and comes in an electoral period.

There can be no doubt that Mr. Kostas Gavroglu will be remembered as one of the worst education ministers ever.
With obsessions and ideological fixations he is attempting - with the entire educational community against him - to institute supposed reform by demolishing all that had been accomplished with basic consensus over the last years.

Education Minister Kostas Gavroglu will go down in history as the minister who literally demolished tertiary education in Greece.
With no plan, programme, studies, evaluation or consensus, he is proceeding to merge tertiary technical schools (TEI) with universities for purely petty partisan reasons.

Government backs down on plan on clergy’s salaries
The government has released its revised plan on the implementation on the church-state agreement agreed to by PM Alexis Tsipras and Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, following a meeting between Education, Research, and Religious Affairs Minister Kostas Gavroglu and the church's committee on dialogue with the state.
