A policeman was killed by a security officer after shooting and killing two women in front of a police station in Ankara’s Çankaya district on July 1.

The first victim reportedly filed a complaint against the suspect, a police officer, for harassing her. She returned to her work place but then headed to the police station after the suspect continued to intimidate her.

Some 820 people were killed in work accidents only in the last six months, a senior trade union representative said, recalling that poor working conditions of coal mine workers in Soma were the main reason of massive casualty on May 13 accident that killed 301 people.
