CAB to consider Friday Mircea Basescu's challenge against preventive arrest
The Bucharest Court of Appeal (CAB) on Friday, June 27, will consider Mircea Basescu's challenge against his 30-day preventive arrest in relation to a case in which the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) investigates him for influence peddling.
Romanian President's Brother Arrested for Alleged Graft
A court in Bucharest ruled that Mircea Basescu, the president’s younger brother, should be remanded in custody for 30 days for allegedly taking a 250,000 euro bribe from a relative of convicted underworld boss Sandu Anghel.
Prosecutors allege that he received the money through a middleman in exchange for a promise to intervene to secure Anghel’s release.
30-day preventive arrest term for Mircea Basescu, President Basescu's brother
The Bucharest Court on Friday ruled a 30-day preventive arrest term for Mircea Basescu, President Basescu's brother.
Mircea Basescu's lawyer said that the warrant has been executed. He said also that Mircea Basescu made appeal to the court decision.
