Two plundered ancient Greek vases are repatriated from Switzerland
Two plundered marble vases that marked ancient Athenians' graves more than 2,000 years ago, including one with an emotional family scene, have been returned to Greece from Switzerland.
Greece's Culture Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that the two white marble works, which were decorated with relief sculptures, were brought back following a long legal battle.
Man arrested over antiquities smuggling in Thessaloniki
A 61-year-old man was arrested in the northern port city of Thessaloniki at the weekend over the theft of antiquities including a number of ancient coins and two ceramic vases that fall under the protective provisions of the legislation on the protection of antiquities.
George Hadoulis | Antiparos | August 6-25
Known for his vibrant ceramic work, George Hadoulis will be displaying some of his best pieces in an exhibition at the Anti Art Gallery in Antiparos from August 6 to 25. The display of brightly colored ceramic pots and vases focuses on nature and mythology, two of Hadoulis' foremost artistic inspirations. The artist trained at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, and now lives in Athens.
