Second Turkish soldier at PM's dinner table killed by ISIL in Syria

A second soldier who sat at Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım's New Year's dinner table in December 2016 was killed in an Islamic State Iraq and Levant (ISIL) attack on Feb. 8 during the ongoing Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Armed Forces. 

Fenerbahçe draws against Russian club Locomotive Moscow in Europa League amid tensions

Turkish club Fenerbahçe and Russia's Locomotive Moscow will hope tensions between their respective countries will not be reflected on the football pitch when the two sides meet in the Europa League in February.

The two teams were drawn against each other on Dec. 14 for a round of 32 clash, while the other Turkish club in the competition, Galatasaray, drew Italian club Lazio.

High court rules for retrial of Fenerbahçe chairman Yıldırım in match-fixing case

The 13th Istanbul High Criminal Court ruled June 23 for the retrial of several convicted suspects, including Fenerbahçe’s outspoken chairman Aziz Yıldırım, in the match-fixing case that had shaken the country’s football scene.
