Findings throw light on Istanbul’s wildlife history
Türkiye's first Osteoarchaeology Application and Research Center at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa (IÜÇ) has revealed important findings that throw light on Istanbul's diverse wildlife from 8,500 years ago.
Though Istanbul is famous for its cats and seagulls today, many species ranging from elephants to deer and vultures to loggerheads were found in Istanbul thousands of years ago.
Biologist scouts talent for women’s basketball
With the goal of training successful athletes, a biologist, who has also dedicated herself to women's basketball for more than 20 years, introduces gifted girls from underprivileged neighborhoods to sports.
Funda Onar, an ex-basketball player who works as a researcher at Istanbul University, spoke about her sports journey to local media.

Man City star Gündoğan weds in Turkish hometown
World football giant Manchester City's Turkish-German midfielder İlkay Gündoğan, who tied the knot with Moroccon-Italian model Sara Arfaoui in Copenhagen in May, have held a traditional wedding ceremony in his hometown in the northwestern province of Balıkesir.

Byzantines cast spells with dolphin oil, says expert
The Byzantines hunted dolphins and used dolphin oil in the pharmaceutical industry, in oil lamps and in some superstitious works, said Vedat Onar, professor at Istanbul University, examining animal bones unearthed in archaeological excavations at Istanbul's Haydarpaşa, a historic train station on the Asian side.
They used dolphin oil to cast spells, according to Onar.
Film by Turkish glass artist at Venice Glass Week
"Esma," a short film by Turkish glass artist Felekşan Onar, will premiere during the Venice Glass Week 2019 following the conference "Murano-Istanbul: A glass making journey II."
