Cypriot individuals and entities included in British and American sanctions lists will see their assets in the Cypriot banking system frozen and will not be able to carry out any banking transactions in Cyprus, Marios Skandalis, chief compliance officer at the Bank of Cyprus, the island's largest lender, has said. 

It is obvious that certain individuals and companies were patronizing and thus benefited illegally, commented the caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov to bTV in relation to the US sanctions against Bulgarian citizens under the Magnitsky law.

According to him, this could not have happened without persons holding senior government positions.

Speaking during a meeting here on Wednesday with the US Department of Treasury's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Paul Ahern, which was also attended by the US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa, President Rumen Radev said that achieving effective results in the fight against corruption requires a concerted effort by partner countries, Radev's Press Secretariat reported.

Greece welcomed the announced US sanctions against the top Turkish defense development body, its president and three employees on Monday.
