PRISTINA - Kfor Commander Maj Gen Ozkan Ulutas met with the ambassadors of the Quint states to Pristina on Thursday.

The German-Kosovo Economic Chamber, KDWV, on Thursday warned that the political crisis in Kosovo due to the tense situation in the Serb-majority north of the country might prompt German companies to withdraw their current or planned investments.

The European Union has expressed concern about the election of Blerim Isufaj as Kosovo's new Chief Prosecutor on Wednesday, and local civil society organisations have urged President Vjosa Osmani to consider the evident shortcomings of the process when she decides to decree the decision or not.

Responding to calls to dismiss a Kosovo Serb government minister, Goran Rakic, head of the Belgrade-backed Srpska Lista party, after his controversial statements, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Thursday said sacking him would not help anything.

"The issue is not Rakic. Dismissal would turn him into an issue," Kurti said on Thursday, ahead of municipal elections due on Sunday.

But Veseli's proposal was described as political opportunism by opponents within Kosovo, and dismissed by international experts as impractical and extremely unlikely to succeed.
