Business Conditions in Serbia 'Difficult', Experts Say

IZIT: Production in freezing zone
BELGRADE - Industrial production in Serbia recorded a drop by 16 percent in September 2014 relative to the same month in the previous year, which means that it has got deep in the freezing zone, said economic analyst Sasa Djogovic of the Belgrade Institute for Market Research (IZIT).

IZIT: Recession certainty in next year
BELGRADE - The Serbian economy will probably face recession in the year to come, due to the reform measures and fiscal consolidation, including cuts in public sector salaries and pensions, shutdown of a number of restructuring companies and the consequent workforce decrease, the Belgrade Institute for Market Research (IZIT) states.

Serbia's economy heading for recession in July
BELGRADE - Recent floods will have a negative impact on the economic activities in the country, and Serbia is expected to move into recession early in July, while inflation will not remain within the target band due to expected increase in prices of foods and services, Sasa Djogovic, associate of the Belgrade Institute for Market Research (IZIT), stated on Thursday.

Export up by 18.2 %, foreign trade deficit decreases
BELGRADE - In the first two months of 2014, export went up by 18.2 percent, while import increased by 3.5 percent compared to the respective period in 2013 resulting in a decrease in Serbia's foreign trade deficit from one billion dollars to USD 813 million.
Djogovic: UAE loan should be used to cut debt
BELGRADE - Serbia should use the USD 1 billion loan granted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to pay back expensive loans and launch reforms, economist Sasa Djogovic of the Belgrade Institute for Market Research (IZIT) stated on Thursday.
We received a loan from UAE on more favourable terms than currently available on the market, Djogovic told a news conference.
