We Continue the Change

In Bulgaria, the political climate remains tense as parties struggle to form a stable coalition following parliamentary elections. The uncertainty has persisted, with significant divisions between key political groups such as GERB, "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB), and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).

GERB has decided to withdraw the candidacy of Raya Nazaryan for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly, as announced by the party leader Boyko Borissov.

Following today's vote for the Speaker of the National Assembly, "We Continue the Change" (WCC) demanded the resignations of Daniel Lorer and Yavor Bozhankov. By decision of the party's Executive Council, Daniel Lorer was expelled from the party and all its bodies.

Boyko Borissov, leader of GERB, declined to reveal his party's plans for resolving Bulgaria's political crisis, responding to reporters in the National Assembly with a firm, "I won't tell you." Borissov expressed dissatisfaction with former Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, criticizing his interview earlier in the day on Nova TV.

Slavi Trifonov, leader of "There Is Such a People" (TISP), took to social media to criticize Boyko Borissov, leader of GERB, after the latter expressed frustration with the state of Bulgarian politics. Trifonov accused Borissov of being overly self-assured, claiming that Borissov sees himself as indispensable to Bulgaria's survival and stability.

GERB leader Boyko Borissov has announced his decision to withdraw as a candidate for prime minister and plans to return the first mandate to form a government. "I no longer want to deal with this country," Borissov stated during a GERB press conference, expressing frustration with the ongoing political stalemate.

GERB has designated representatives to organize leadership negotiations, which will only proceed if aimed at forming a government. The party's executive committee decided this after assessing the recent positions of "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB).

The 51st National Assembly has failed for the fifth time to elect a Speaker, as the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)-United Left maintained its position and did not support Silvi Kirilov, the candidate from "There Is Such a People" (TISP). Meanwhile, internal divisions persist within "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB), with some members opposing Kirilov's nomination.

Kiril Petkov, co-chairman of "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB), has accused Boyko Borissov of intentionally delaying the start of the Bulgarian parliament.

The Bulgarian National Assembly continued its efforts to elect a Speaker, but for the fourth consecutive time, no candidate managed to secure the necessary support. In today's first voting session, the stalemate persisted.
