Patra to host major Olympic memorabilia exhibition featuring 10,000 artifacts
Some 10,000 original pieces from a private collection of Olympic Games memorabilia are going on display in the western port city of Patra on Monday, in a show running until August 3 at City Hall.
The exhibits have been donated by Pantelis Kotzanoulis, who is believed to have the biggest collection of its kind in Greece, with more than 30,000 pieces.

Voices of the Lost Children | Athens | November 22

Demolitions of interwar buildings altering city character
The demolition of one- and two-story historical houses from the interwar period in Athens' old districts, such as Agios Nikolaos Street in Koukaki, in the center of the capital, is taking on worrying proportions. The reason is the possibility provided by new building regulations allowing greater heights and covering plots in narrow streets.

Greek bishop skips holy flame’s arrival at military airport outside his see
A lantern carrying a flame lit in Jerusalem's Holy Sepulcher Church has been welcomed to Greece with honors reserved for visiting heads of state on the eve of Orthodox Easter.
But a senior cleric boycotted the ceremony, miffed that the holy flame wasn't arriving at the airport within his territorial jurisdiction.
Bishop imposes restraint at weddings, baptisms
The metropolitan bishop of Fthiotida has caused a stir after banning wedding and baptism decorations both inside and outside the region's churches earlier this month. According to Bishop Nikolaos, extravagant decorations created by wedding planners trying to satisfy their clients' vanity expose the Church of Greece to negative comments.
