Prominent SYRIZA MP Elena Akrita submitted her resignation on Friday following backlash over a controversial Facebook post. However, her resignation was not accepted by the head of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, Nikos Pappas.

Kasselakis, the ousted president of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, is attempting to rally his internal forces, holding a meeting with his close associates. His team has been instructed to stay prepared, both within and outside the party, though no decision has been made regarding his future plans.

Although Kasselakis was removed, it is difficult to foresee a revival of SYRIZA in the near future. The crisis will deepen, and we will see many more episodes. There might be agreements on positions, political alliances, organizational structures, priorities, and programs.

The Hellenic Police announced on Monday that an officer reportedly responsible for vulgar social media posts had retired in 2021.

According to SYRIZA MP Elena Akrita, this is the person with whom MEP Nikos Pappas had an altercation via private Instagram messages.

Independent MP since yesterday afternoon is Chania MP Pavlos Polakis, as his verbal attack on a staff member of Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis resulted in his expulsion from the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, dramatically changing the agenda and dynamics within the main opposition.

Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotaki, the wife of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has issued a legal threat to a SYRIZA MP, challenging a number of allegations the latter made in two recent social media posts.

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis invited the party's parliamentary group for a three-day working meeting in his holiday home on the island of Spetses.

According to the email invitation the MPs received on Wednesday, the meeting aims to plan parliamentary action for the first semester of 2024, with invitees asked to prepare and propose new pieces of legislation.

SYRIZA has unveiled its state-wide list for the upcoming elections on May 21, the composition of which is equally balanced between male and female candidates.
