Fourteen people died on Nov. 30 in an Azerbaijani military helicopter crash which went down in the east of the Caucasus country during a training flight, officials said.

"Fourteen people died and two more were wounded as a result of a state border service helicopter crash," the ex-Soviet republic's frontier guard said in a statement.

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar held a telephone conversation on Nov. 16 with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Zakir Hasanov, to discuss Azerbaijan-Armenia tension.

Hasanov informed Akar about recent tension at the Armenian border, stressing that Armenia's "provocation was prevented," according to a statement by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

The main objective for Turkey and Azerbaijan is the continuity of a cease-fire and to bring stability to the region, Turkish defense chief Hulusi Akar said on Nov. 5 at a reception at the Azerbaijan Embassy in Ankara for Victory Day.

The construction of the Turkish-Russian joint monitoring center will be completed in two weeks, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Dec. 31. 

Azerbaijan's defense minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria in Azerbaijan Nikolay Yankov, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said in a message July 9.

Azerbaijan has displayed a Turkish-made cruise missile in a military parade to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azeri Armed Forces. 

Turkish and Azeri armed forces May 12 started joint military exercises in the Azeri capital of Baku and Nakhchivan, the Azeri Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The exercises would continue until May 17 and were being held within the framework of a military cooperation agreement between Turkey and Azerbaijan, it said.

The Turkish and Azerbaijani armies will hold a joint military exercise in Turkey in March 2015, according to a statement released by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.

BAKU, BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Lieutenant General Zakir Hasanov, said on Tuesday that there is a realistic foundation for boosting bilateral military cooperation.
